Sneak Peek of Semicolon: A Collection of Thoughts and Other Snippets

Welcome to my first blog post! To get everyone excited about my upcoming book (estimated launch date: August 6th!!), I have decided to give you a sneak peek of my two favorite chapters.

parallel love

Written in March 2021, won Gold Key at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

infinitesimal coordinates loop around

playing an extensive game of cat and mouse

forever in motion, their eyes rest on the prize

marked by circular intersection

a reward always sought but never gained

on a track just as round lied their prophecy

also resembling childhood games

of endless chasing, nervous anticipation

and shifty eyes without a place

just two values plotted as parametric points

but right place wrong time now a distant past

cat and mouse game finally ceased

the circle was pinched

courses were adjusted

and the two souls now revolve around infinity

same tireless looping with a new condition

of unlikely intersection

except the odds were in their favor

and the circle’s belt combined our coordinates

but now we plot points on perpendicular planes

only to discover that instead they are parallel

disconnected but forever nearby

two points with a slope veer off course

like two magnets with the same charge

but the earth exists with the air

and parallel can become perpendicular

if only you squint your eyes and smudge the lines

for to breathe the same air

and walk the same earth as her?

a reward for impossible intersection

the two points’ courses are soon aligned

frequencies instead of slopes connect the magnets

whose charge is now insignificant

blue light illuminates the earth she walks on

the air she breathes

and the convergence of the parallel planes

through the frequencies her soul is seen

by a point forever watching, forever nearby

in awe of her pureness

her positive charge

hoping for one more moment before eyes force open

and the line is no longer perpendicular

the memory of first love

Written in July 2022.

the wind spun woven fabric of tattered souls

blurred the world’s intricate sapphire-emerald edges

that reflected clouded radiance

roman candles permeated shadowed infinity

ambient laughter turned muddled background noise

as unfamiliar emotions ebbed and flowed

waves buckled under pressure

the avoidance of change leaves unfinished thoughts

unnoticeable ambiguity swirled around

only to be recognized later by virtue of familiarity

so much lost in translation

connections crumbled to ashy oblivion

only later identifications unearth

overlooked pathways hidden by hand-built walls

missing pieces fall into place

significance never once faltering despite the delay
